At least 12 people, including five women, were killed and 22 others seriously injured in a head-on collision between a passenger coach and a minivan near Zero Point in Balochistan's Uthal on Friday.

The accident occurred on the Quetta-Karachi highway when a speeding passenger coach travelling from Gwadar to Karachi collided with an oncoming minivan heading from Karachi towards Bela, according to police.

Rescue officials said that rescue teams rushed to the scene after receiving information about the accident and immediately launched relief operations.

They confirmed that the deceased included seven men and five women, while 22 seriously injured people were shifted to nearby hospitals. Several of the injured were reported to be in critical condition.
