PM Shehbaz, Bangladesh PM discuss stronger ties and regional issues at UNGA

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Bangladesh’s Prime Minister Tarique Rahman held talks on Thursday on the sidelines of the 81st United Nations General Assembly, agreeing to further strengthen relations between the two countries.

During the meeting, the two leaders reviewed the current state of Pakistan-Bangladesh relations and welcomed the positive progress made in bilateral ties, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

PM Shehbaz congratulated Bangladesh on taking over the presidency of the 81st UN General Assembly and assured Dhaka of Pakistan’s support for its efforts to advance the UN’s objectives.

Both leaders expressed a desire to expand mutually beneficial cooperation between Pakistan and Bangladesh. Tarique Rahman also welcomed the improving relationship and said his government was interested in further developing bilateral ties.

They also discussed regional and international developments and stressed the need for continued cooperation at multilateral platforms, particularly at the United Nations.
