A seven-year-old boy suffering from blood cancer lost his life after his family dipped him in the Ganges river for 15-odd minutes to cure the disease in India.

The parents, desperate for a miracle, took their son who was suffering from blood cancer to the Ganges River, and allegedly dipped him into the river for 15 minutes, believing that dipping him in the water multiple times would save him, as doctors had given up hope. Sadly, the child succumbed to the cold water.

When the police arrived, eyewitnesses reported that the mother of the child kept the body close to her and was shouting that nothing happened to the child and it would come back to life in a short time.

Despite their efforts, the child was declared dead at the nearest hospital.

It was revealed that the family had initially sought treatment for the child's cancer at a modern Delhi hospital, where doctors eventually conveyed that there was no hope.

In their blind faith, the family took the child to Haridwar, hoping a dip in the Ganges would cure him.

During the journey from Delhi to Haridwar, the taxi driver reported that he noticed the child's unwell health, and said that the family discussed the child's worsening condition and their plan to bathe him in the Ganges.

The Haridwar Police Chief stated that some people tried to intervene, but one of the child's relatives angrily fought those who attempted to prevent the ritual.
