The World Health Organization (WHO) has revealed that more than 10,000 individuals in Gaza require immediate medical evacuation abroad, but Israel continues to obstruct their departure and restricts access to medical aid.
According to Hani Asalem, Project Coordinator for Doctors Without Borders (MSF), Israel is systematically denying patients permission to leave, and even when permission is granted, accompanying family members or caregivers are often stopped without explanation.
Asalem told Al Jazeera that the situation has worsened following the re-election of U.S. President Donald Trump, as several countries have ceased accepting patients from Gaza due to political pressure and Israel’s ongoing actions, which he described as genocidal, dampening the global response.

He further noted that it is not only war-wounded individuals but also cancer patients, those with kidney failure, and heart disease sufferers who are in urgent need of treatment.
"The humanitarian situation in Gaza has gone beyond catastrophe—it is a full-scale health crisis," Asalem warned.
