The Indian Parliament echoed with sharp questions on Monday as opposition MPs challenged the BJP government's alleged false narrative surrounding Operation Sindoor, a military operation launched against Pakistan in May following the April 22 attack in Indian-occupied Kashmir's Pahalgam.
Amid intense criticism and repeated demands for transparency, opposition parties pressed Prime Minister Narendra Modi to provide a detailed account of the losses India suffered during the conflict.
However, instead of Modi, the government convened a session of the Lok Sabha (Lower House) on Monday, during which senior ministers attempted to clarify the government’s stance, only to raise more confusion.
The session began in uproar, forcing the Speaker to suspend proceedings twice. When the House reconvened, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar presented the government's official position on Operation Sindoor, which was later praised by Prime Minister Modi.
However, the opposition roundly criticised the explanations as vague and misleading.

The absence of Prime Minister Modi from the first day of the session sparked further outrage, with opposition MPs accusing him of evading accountability.
On Monday, Kerala Congress MP Advocate Francis George stated that the satellite imagery and intelligence data contradicting the government’s denial of aircraft losses.
“Truth has a way of surfacing,” George said. “While the official narrative denied aircraft losses, satellite imagery, international intelligence reports, and even our own defence attaches’ seminar notes reveal the truth. We lost 3 Rafales, 1 Sukhoi-30 MKI, and 1 MiG-29, all were shot down in our own territory.”
George added that the government's misleading statements had embarrassed the country on the international stage and severely damaged its credibility.

On Tuesday, Congress MP Amrinder Singh Raja showed a photograph of a downed Rafale aircraft near Bhisiana air force station, saying it was taken during the conflict with Pakistan. He further alleged that Indian Air Force Chief Air Marshal AK Bharti admitted the aircraft was shot down by Pakistan but misled the public by calling it “unidentified.”

Despite repeated questioning, government ministers offered no substantive answers and instead maintained that it was Pakistan that requested a ceasefire.
This claim was also challenged by opposition MPs, who asked why India responded to such a request if it was on the offensive, but the ministers reportedly evaded those pointed queries.
