KARACHI: The Sindh government has made changes in school timing schedule by adding an extra hour of teaching after restoring the holiday of Saturday in all public and private schools in the province.
It will enhance learning outcomes, facilitate effective academic activities, and allow teachers to cover the whole prescribed syllabus in the academic year.
The Education Minister of Sindh, Syed Sardar Ali Shah has declared this decision and he says that it has been approved by Chief Minister Sindh, Murad Ali Shah.
As per new schedule, the schools will have the holiday of Saturday whereas the extra hour will be added in teaching time on other days in order to make up for the loss of educational hours due to holiday.
The Education Minister has stated that this decision has been made in light of the austerity measures adopted by the provincial government without harming the students' education. It should be noted that the provincial government has cancelled the weekly Saturday holiday on July 30, adopting a six-day working week schedule in the schools of the province. The move was supported by several teachers who said that the Saturday holiday was adversely impacting classroom activity and academic performance of the students.
Meanwhile, the provincial government of Balochistan has also decided to adopt six-day working week schedule in the schools of the province, cancelling the Saturday holiday.
As per a notification issued by the Balochistan School Education Department, the public and private schools along with attached administrative offices will run from Monday to Saturday till further orders.
