A computer paper for 9th grade was leaked on social media before the exam as the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) Annual Examination 2024 (matriculation exams) began today in Karachi, sources said on Tuesday.

However, Board of Secondary Education Karachi (BSEK) chairman Syed Sharaf Ali Shah said that the board was not responsible if the paper was leaked from the examination centres.

On the other hand, a BSEK spokesperson said that the education board was unable to confirm whether the paper circulating on social media was fake or genuine.

The authorities have also imposed a section 144 around examination centres in an attempt to control cheating in Matriculation exams.

But, the efforts went in vain as the paper was leaked on social media via Facebook and WhatsApp groups.

Reacting to the leaked paper, Shah shifted the blame to provincial authorities, saying it was the Sindh government's duty to stop the spread of paper online.

The education authorities have arranged as many as 504 exam centres, including 265 for girls and 239 for boys, for 368,000 candidates participating in final exams.

The papers will be conducted in two shifts, with science group papers to be held in the morning shift, while general group papers are scheduled for the second shift.
