Police arrest suspect in murder of 9-year-old found in shopping bag in Korangi

Police have arrested a suspect in connection with the kidnapping and brutal murder of a nine-year-old boy in Karachi's Korangi area.

According to officials, the suspect is reportedly mute, making the interrogation process difficult. He is said to be a resident of the same neighborhood where the victim lived.

On Tuesday night, the body of the missing child was discovered wrapped in a shopping bag and dumped in an empty plot within the jurisdiction of Korangi Zaman Town police station. The remains were believed to be several days old.

The victim was identified as Hassan Shah, son of Javed Shah, a resident of Korangi. Police said the boy went missing on September 22 after visiting his father’s shop near Defence A Market.

A case of kidnapping was registered at Defence police station on September 24 following his disappearance.

Doctors confirmed during the post-mortem that the child was killed by repeated blows to the head with a heavy object.
