Following existing charges for water, electricity, and gas, Lahore residents will now also receive sanitation bills, the Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) confirmed.
According to an LWMC spokesperson, garbage collection bills will begin reaching households across Lahore starting next week.
The rollout will be phased, beginning in nine designated town areas of the city.
The spokesperson stated that in upscale residential areas and commercial markets, sanitation fees will be calculated based on the per-marla rate (a unit of land measurement).
Residential properties ranging from 5 to 40 marlas will be charged between PKR 300 and PKR 5,000, depending on the size.
Commercial establishments, from small shops to industrial units, will be billed between PKR 500 and PKR 3,000.
In rural areas, sanitation charges for buildings between 5 and 40 marlas have been set between PKR 200 and PKR 400. Commercial properties in these areas will be charged between PKR 300 and PKR 2,000.
