A three-year-old girl was kidnapped for ransom in Karachi’s Ajmer Nagri area. The suspect, now in custody, confessed he intended to use the ransom money for his brother’s bail.

The police said the girl went missing on July 23. The first information report was filed by her father, stating that at around 9:00 pm, she went to a shop near the house and disappeared. 

The family remained unable to find her despite a hours-long search. The case was registered in Khawaja Ajmer Nagri police station under Section 364-A (kidnapping or abducting a person under the age of fourteen) of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).

In an effective response, the police not only recovered the girl safely but also arrested the suspect, reads the police statement issued on Friday. 

Central Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) spokesperson Zeeshan Shafiq Siddiqui said that the operation was conducted within 24 hours and was completed in a “confidential and professional manner” to prevent harming the victim. 

“During interrogation, the suspect revealed that his brother is in jail in the custody of Manghopir police, and he kidnapped the girl to get ransom money for his bail,” the spokesperson said, adding that the suspect belonged to the girl’s family. 

Meanwhile police continued the probe to uncover further facts , the statement read.
