Islamabad under Section 144; citizens cautioned against unlawful activities

Section 144 has been imposed in Islamabad for two months, with the district administration warning citizens against participating in any “illegal activity”.

The order, issued on September 18 by Additional District Magistrate Dr Anam Fatima, bans gatherings of five or more people, along with processions, rallies and demonstrations at public places across the federal capital, including the Red Zone.

The move comes ahead of planned protests, including the Kissan Ittehad’s activities and PTI’s announced long march and sit-in on September 27, seeking the release of party founder Imran Khan.

The administration said strict legal action would be taken against violations and urged citizens to cooperate with security agencies.

Section 144 has also been imposed across Punjab for 13 days amid security concerns.

The Punjab government has requested Rangers deployment in several districts, while three companies of the Pakistan Army have separately been authorised for security duties in Rawalpindi.
