Islamabad district administration sets new closing timings for businesses

ISLAMABAD: Fixed closure hours of 8 PM and 10 PM are set up by the district administration of Islamabad for different kinds of business establishments in the federal capital.
This order, issued by the Office of the District Magistrate, details the closure hours of different sectors along with the exceptions under the existing regime of austerity measures.
As per the notification issued, all shops, markets and shopping malls shall have their closing hours fixed at 8 PM. It applies to all days in a week without an exception.
However, some essential services have been excluded from this provision. It includes pharmacies, medical stores, medical laboratories, and hospitals. It also excludes petrol pumps and CNG stations from this regulation. Milk and dairy shops have also been excluded from the closure hours of shops.
In addition to it, the notification further states that restaurants, food outlets, tandoors, grocery stores, karyana stores, meat shops, fruit shops (dry fruits), vegetable vendors, and bakeries would be closed at 10 PM. It does not impose any restrictions on take-away/home-delivery services provided by such establishments.
Moreover, marriage halls, marquees, and other places of business for organizing events would also remain closed at 10 PM.
