Gang war commander “Mehraj” killed in police encounter during joint operation in Karachi’s Old Golimar area

Karachi: A highly wanted gang war commander was killed during a joint operation conducted by South Zone Police and a federal sensitive institution in the Old Golimar area on Saturday.
According to police, the raid was carried out on secret information, during which an intense exchange of fire took place between suspected gang war and drug trafficking elements and the police party.
Police said the slain suspect, identified as “Mehraj”, was allegedly involved in gang war activities and drug trafficking networks operating in Old Golimar and adjoining areas.
Authorities claimed that hand grenades, weapons and ammunition were recovered from the possession of the deceased suspect.
Following the operation, additional police personnel were deployed in the area, while a search operation was launched against facilitators and members of gang war and drug mafia groups after the locality was cordoned off.
The body was shifted to hospital for legal formalities, while further investigation is underway.
