Eight attempts to leak MDCAT paper thwarted in Karachi

KARACHI: Attempts to leak the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) paper were foiled after an alleged agent network made multiple efforts to circulate examination papers on social media.

According to officials, the alleged agents attempted to leak the MDCAT paper eight times, while eight fake examination papers were also shared on social media.

Officials from IBA Sukkur and the testing service successfully thwarted all attempts to compromise the examination process, ensuring that the test was conducted as scheduled.

IBA Sukkur Vice Chancellor Dr Asif Sheikh said he had spent the night monitoring arrangements and remained awake to oversee the security and confidentiality of the MDCAT paper.

Dr Sheikh said he later fainted at the examination centre due to a lack of sleep.

The authorities said efforts were made throughout the process to ensure the integrity and transparency of the examination and prevent any unauthorised access to the question paper.

The Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) 2026 was held across Pakistan on Sunday. As many as138,158 candidates appeared for the entrance examination.

According to the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC), the test started at 10am and ended at 1pm.

Examination centres were established in 34 cities across the country, along with a centre in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
