In a disturbing incident, police registered six cases against the owner of a call center in Gulshan-e-Iqbal after he allegedly detained a young female employee and opened fire on her family when they tried to rescue her.
According to police, eight suspects, including five armed men, were arrested from the call center. Security forces also recovered two rifles and three pistols from their possession.
Six FIRs were lodged under charges of harassment, unlawful detention, aerial firing, rioting, and issuing death threats.
The FIR, filed by the victim’s father Shoaib, stated that his daughter had been working at the call center for three years, where branch manager Daniyal repeatedly harassed her. When her nephew confronted Daniyal over his behavior, the accused allegedly threatened the family.
On the following day, when the victim reported to work, she was locked inside the office. Shoaib and his relatives reached the scene at night and found the office bolted from within.
Upon forcing their way in, Daniyal allegedly abused the girl, while his accomplice Zulqurnain opened fire. The girl’s relatives retaliated, leading to an exchange of gunfire as office guards also joined in.
Police arrived at the scene after receiving a distress call on helpline 15, and took the suspects into custody.
