Chief Minister (CM) Punjab Maryam Nawaz has become the latest victim of a deepfake video, in which she was shown dancing to a song.

The manipulated video was shared by an alleged PTI supporter, Nabeel Khattak, on his TikTok account with a handle @nabeelpti@tiger2.

The deepfake video showed CM Maryam Nawaz dancing to a music with two other girls moving in the background.

However, social media users have slammed the video, calling it a "disgusting" and "sexist" attempt to defame the first woman Chief Minister of Punjab.

What is deepfake video?

A deepfake video is a manipulated media file that appears authentic but is actually created using artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning algorithms.

Dangerous side of deepfake videos

Deepfake videos pose a significant threat to individuals, especially women, as they can be used to spread misinformation, harass, and defame. They can also be used to create fake news, propaganda, or even revenge porn, and have become a growing concern in the digital age.

It is essential to recognise the dangers of deepfake videos and take measures to prevent their spread and misuse.
