An AI-generated “actress” unexpectedly switched from English to Chinese during a live interview.

Tilly Norwood appeared on Piers Morgan Uncensored with British actor Tom Conti as part of promotion of the upcoming film Misaligned. The unusual moment came after Conti asked Norwood about the other actors featured in the film.

He wanted to know whether they were real people or AI-generated characters. Norwood initially misunderstood the question. She responded by talking about the involvement of human writers, directors and editors in making the film.

Conti pointed out that she had not answered what he had asked and repeated the question, this time specifically asking whether the actors appearing on screen were real or computer-generated.

Norwood then appeared to understand him and said the other performers were “digital twins” like herself. She continued with her explanation but suddenly stopped and began speaking in Chinese. She continued speaking in the language for more than 10 seconds.

The unexpected switch left Morgan visibly confused. He interrupted Norwood and asked why she had suddenly started speaking Chinese.

Norwood apologised and described the incident as a “little hiccup”. She said her “wires” sometimes get crossed.
