Police have registered a case against TikToker Ansar Mahmood, known as Mr Patlu, his brother and several event organisers after a stampede at his wedding celebrations in Sialkot left one man dead and at least 18 others injured.

The incident occurred on Saturday night at Faraz Cricket Ground on Daska Road, where hundreds of people had gathered for a Mehndi ceremony and prize-distribution event.

According to the first information report (FIR), Mr Patlu had invited people through social media, offering prizes including motorcycles and a car. The situation reportedly turned chaotic after he announced through a microphone that attendees should enter the ground, prompting a rush towards the venue.

A man identified as Aqeel, a resident of Budha Goraya, was crushed to death in the ensuing crowd surge, the FIR stated. Eighteen people were also injured.

The case was registered on the complaint of Station House Officer Mubeen Cheema under several sections of the Pakistan Penal Code and Section 16 of the Punjab Maintenance of Public Order Ordinance, 1960.

Police alleged that Mr Patlu, his brother Kashif and other organisers had violated safety procedures attached to the event's permission, contributing to the incident.

The FIR also names the owner of the cricket ground and several people involved in managing the event. Police said security guards had been deployed, but the crowd became uncontrollable.
