PTI Long March: Cellular services to 'remain suspended' in Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Attock on Sept. 26, 27

ISLAMABAD: Mobile phone services will be suspended in Rawalpindi, Attock and adjoining areas on September 26 and 27, while services in Islamabad will remain suspended on September 27, as part of measures announced to maintain law and order, national media reported, citing sources.

The decision was formally approved on Wednesday after the matter was reviewed during a high-level law and order meeting five days earlier, according to officials.

Mobile phone services will reportedly remain unavailable in Rawalpindi, Attock and their surrounding areas on both days, while the suspension in the federal capital will be observed on September 27.

Authorities have also announced the closure of several sections of the M-1 and M-14 motorways to all traffic in both directions.

The M-1 will be closed from the Islamabad Toll Plaza to the Chachh Interchange, with closures also affecting several interchanges, including Fateh Jang, Tarnol, Sangjani, Burhan, Hazara Motorway, Ghazi and Chachh.

The M-14 will also be closed between Hakla and Kundal. The affected interchanges include Hakla, Fateh Jang, Pindi Gheb, Khadpa, Tarap, Dadu Khel, Kot Belian, Isa Khel and Kundal.

The motorway closures will be implemented in phases from after Maghrib prayers on Wednesday, according to the authorities.

Officials said the measures were being taken as part of arrangements aimed at maintaining law and order and ensuring public security.
