RAWALPINDI – Law enforcement authorities on Monday took into custody Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and former prime minister Imran Khan’s sisters, Aleema Khanum and Noreen Niazi, during a protest in Rawalpindi.
According to details, the two sisters were participating in a demonstration alongside lawyers near the Dahgal checkpoint when police intervened and detained them.
The authorities subsequently transported them towards the Chakri Interchange under security escort.
The protest was part of a sit-in staged close to Adiala Jail, where PTI’s Secretary General Salman Akram Raja and other lawyers were also present.
The demonstrators had gathered to demand a meeting between Imran Khan and his family members, which they claim has been unjustly denied.

Speaking before her arrest, Aleema Khanum declared that she would not leave the site until she was allowed to meet her brother.
“We will remain here until a meeting with Imran Khan is arranged,” she asserted, vowing to continue peaceful resistance.
The incident comes amid heightened political tensions and an ongoing crackdown on PTI leadership and supporters, following months of legal and political challenges faced by the former ruling party.
