Pakistan recently joined President Trump’s ‘Board of Peace’ along with 20 other countries in a signing ceremony held in Davos. However, officials emphasized that its participation does not involve any commitment to deploy Pakistani troops to Gaza.

Officials claimed that such an option would require a separate mandate and constitutional process and rejected any involvement in forced military operations or disarming Hamas.

Furthermore, sources from the foreign office said the Board of Peace is intended as a diplomatic forum for coordinating humanitarian aid and reconstruction of war-torn Gaza.

They further highlighted that Pakistan’s participation is based on long-standing support for a two-state solution based on pre-1967 borders with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as capital.

Meanwhile, members of the national assembly argued that the decision to join the board of peace lacked adequate parliamentary consultation and could undermine national sovereignty.

Moreover, PTI and some religious groups accused the government of bypassing constitutional processes and expressed concern about joining a U.S.-led initiative with an ambiguous agenda and legal status.

The government officials countered these claims by saying that staying engaged in multilateral diplomacy is essential in safeguarding Palestinian interests and to contribute constructively in international efforts for a lasting peace in Gaza.
