Mir Raza commission wants NCCIA to probe malicious campaign against Dr Summaiya

The Mir Raza Judicial Commission has directed the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) to investigate a malicious campaign allegedly launched against Karachi police surgeon Dr Summaiya Syed at the behest of Dr Osama Shaikh, who conducted the first autopsy of the deceased.

The commission asked the NCCIA director Karachi to assign  one of his seasoned officers to extensively investigate the exchange of messages between the police surgeon and Dr Osama to identify the person responsible for the leakage of these messages on social media.

In its written order issued on Wednesday, the commission said that Dr Summaiya complained of a campaign against her at the behest of Dr Osama. It said Dr Osama’s efforts are aimed at undermining and making the Judicial Commission controversial, adding that harassment of Dr Summaiya was unacceptable.

In her application to the commission, the police surgeon said that Dr Osama had edited parts of their conversation and provided them to specific media channels and digital platforms. She also offered to provide the complete conversation.

Dr Summaiya further said Dr Osama had appeared before the commission three times but had not provided the complete record of the conversation. She alleged that he was not accepting the final report and said his statements raised questions about his conduct.
