Massive Ramazan security plan chalked out for Rawalpindi

Police have finalized an extensive security and traffic management plan for Ramazan, deploying more than 2,500 police personnel and over 900 traffic wardens across Rawalpindi to maintain law and order and ensure smooth traffic flow during peak hours.
According to officials, more than 6,500 civil volunteers will assist security personnel at mosques and Imambargahs, while Elite Force commandos, Dolphin Force units and special police squads will conduct routine patrols in sensitive areas.
Authorities said security has been placed on high alert after the recent Imambargha attack. Blockades and snap-checking operations are also underway citywide.
CPO Syed Khalid Mahmood Hamdani said search, sweep and combing operations have been intensified around mosques, imambargahs, churches and other sensitive sites. He added that Safe City surveillance cameras are being checked 24/7.
Meanwhile, mosque administrations have been instructed to deploy guards alongside police personnel and ensure thorough body searches before entry.
District police and traffic officials have also been assigned duties at Ramazan convenience markets to prevent congestion and maintain order.
Moreover, Farhan Aslam, chief traffic officer confirmed that a special traffic plan has been implemented. Special squads will monitor major roads, keep a check on one-wheeling and manage traffic before Iftar and during Taraweeh prayers.
Furthermore, lifters will be stationed outside mosques and markets to prevent illegal parking.
Officials urged citizens to cooperate with authorities in order to observe Ramazan peacefully.
