Kasim Khan says Adiala protest could create ‘serious threat’ to Imran Khan

ISLAMABAD: Kasim Khan, son of former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, has appealed to the Pakistani public not to attempt to hold a march or protest near Adiala Jail.

The PTI has announced a long march towards Islamabad on September 27 in support of Imran Khan’s release and other demands. Section 144 has been imposed across Punjab in connection with the planned protest, while Rangers have also been called in to Islamabad and several cities across the province. Several PTI leaders and workers, including Imran Khan’s three sisters, have also been taken into custody.

In a post on X, Kasim Khan appealed to the public to exercise caution. He claimed that he had received information from his sources that any such gathering could be used as a pretext for a “retaliatory action” at Adiala Jail, where his father is being held.

He said such a situation could pose a serious threat to his father’s life.

“I therefore appeal to everyone to exercise caution and restraint and not give anyone a pretext or opportunity that could result in an incident endangering my father’s life,” he said in the post.

Kasim Khan has previously expressed concerns about his father’s health in interviews with several international media organisations.

The government, however, maintains that the former prime minister has access to adequate medical facilities and undergoes regular medical check-ups.
