A consumer court in Karachi has issued a notice to a clothing brand, Maria B, on the complaint of a buyer, who claimed to have received a sack of flour instead of expensive garments ordered online.
The judicial magistrate of the consumer court (East) has directed the fashion brand and a courier service, PostEx (Pvt) Ltd, to submit their response before the court on January 31.
The case was filed by Muhammad Usman Malik under consumer protection laws. In his petition, he accused both the brand and the delivery company of serious negligence, poor service, and unfair business practices.
According to the complaint, Malik placed an order on December 1, 2025, through Maria.B’s official website to purchase garments worth Rs55,864. He stated that four days later, he was contacted by the courier company and informed that his order was on the way. The delivery details, including the rider’s name and a tracking number, were also shared with him.
Malik said the parcel was handed over to him by the rider as scheduled. However, when he opened the package, he was shocked to find that it did not contain the clothes he had ordered. Instead, the parcel reportedly held a five-kilogram bag of flour, he added.
