Karachi: Doctors remove metal lock from woman's stomach without surgery

Medical experts at Karachi’s Lyari General Hospital successfully removed a metal lock from a woman’s stomach without performing surgery. Her condition is now gradually improving.
The patient, a 23-year-old woman with a mental health condition, is a resident of Khokhrapar, Karachi. She had ingested a metal lock and was brought to the hospital in critical condition.
Dr Anjum Rehman, one of the doctors, stated that the woman underwent initial medical tests upon arrival, which confirmed the presence of an iron lock in her stomach.
Dr Rehman explained that while the case was complex, the medical team managed to remove the object using laparoscopy.

The doctor provided an update on her health, stating that she is gradually improving.
Earlier, on July 30, a medical team of the same hospital had omitted a 10kg uterine fibroid from the stomach of a 40-year-old woman after hours-long surgery.
The woman was a resident of Lyari, had been suffering from a disease for six years. She had visited several hospitals, but they refused to perform the treatment.
Dr Anjum Rehman, principal of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Medical College Lyari, said that three teams of specialists participated in the complex surgery.
