Islamabad Dolphin Squad personnel suspended for ‘assaulting’ couple

A video showing personnel of Islamabad’s Dolphin Squad allegedly assaulting a husband and wife has surfaced on social media, triggering outrage.

According to police officials, the incident took place in the F-8 sector of the capital, where the couple was stopped outside their home by Dolphin Squad officers. The officers reportedly asked them to show their identity cards.

The police said that a heated exchange followed between the couple and the officers. During the argument, the personnel allegedly subjected the man and his wife to physical assault.

Taking notice of the incident after the video went viral, the Inspector General of Islamabad ordered action against those involved. The police officials accused of misconduct have been suspended pending further investigation.
