The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on Thursday said a notification circulating on social media regarding changes to the government’s working days was fake.
In a post on X, the ministry’s fact-check account advised the public not to believe or share the misleading content and to rely on official government channels for authentic notifications and announcements.
The fake notification, dated September 16, claimed that a four-day work week would be introduced, with Friday, Saturday and Sunday designated as weekly holidays.
The notification surfaced a day after the government said it was considering reviving austerity measures amid renewed hostilities in the Middle East.
Information Minister Attaullah Tarar had said on Monday that the government was considering reviving austerity measures introduced during an earlier fuel conservation drive.
