A well-known Dutch motorcyclist, Noraly Schoenmaker, who recently toured Pakistan’s northern highlands, expressed frustration over what she described as inappropriate questioning and unnecessary checks by local police.

According to her account, Noraly was first stopped at a checkpoint where her documents were examined. Later, two police officials were assigned to accompany her, but instead of facilitating her journey, they kept transferring her from one team to another.

She said she was questioned by six different police units.

While she cooperated with the officials during the repeated document checks, Noraly became upset when some officers asked intrusive personal questions, such as why she had not married at the age of 37 and where her husband was.

She confronted the officers, questioning whether it was appropriate to ask such things of a female tourist.

Noraly, who is regarded as one of the world’s most-followed female bikers, documented the entire experience in a YouTube video. In it, she expressed disappointment over the conduct of certain police officers but also highlighted the warmth and generosity she experienced from ordinary Pakistanis.
