Seven officers of the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA), who were arrested last week over allegedly extorting money from a YouTuber's family, have tendered their resignations from their posts.
A case was lodged against eight NCCIA officials last week on the complaint of Aroob Jatoi, the wife of YouTuber Saadur Rehman alias Ducky Bhai. Following the registration of the case, seven of the officers have resigned from their positions.
The Director General of NCCIA, Syed Khurram Ali, has reportedly forwarded the resignation letters of the seven arrested officers to the Ministry of Interior, and official approval of the resignations is expected within the next few days.
Reports said that the NCCIA sent the resignations to the ministry two days ago; however, the ministry has not yet granted formal approval.
The officers who have resigned include Additional Director Sarfraz Chaudhry, Deputy Director Zawar Ahmed, Assistant Directors Mujtaba Zafar, Shoaib Riaz, and Muhammad Usman, and Sub-Inspectors Yasir Ramzan and Ali Raza. Meanwhile, Deputy Director Ayaz Khan has been declared absconding.
Authorities have not yet released details of the charges filed against the officers, but the case has drawn significant attention amid growing scrutiny of cybercrime investigations and internal accountability within federal agencies.
