Jamaat-e-Islami Emir Hafiz Naeemur Rehman on Monday announced that the party will unveil the next phase of its campaign against petroleum levy after October 7.
Talking to the media, Hafiz Naeem said that the government’s petrol relief package is not a favour to the public but has been introduced under pressure.
He said around four million motorcycles are in use in the country, but the relief package does not cover everyone. “The only solution to this issue is the abolition of the petroleum levy,” he added, questioning why political parties remained silent on the issue.
Hafiz Naeem said that the government could not create a separate system for the rich, adding that such a practice would not be accepted.
“We will announce the next phase after October 7,” he said.
Speaking about the situation in Palestine, the JI chief said his party would continue to raise its voice for the Palestinians. He said that Palestinians are being subjected to genocide, with the United States also facilitating Israel.
“Palestinians are making sacrifices for the entire Muslim Ummah. We stand with the oppressed, not the oppressor,” he said.
