A 5.4-magnitude earthquake struck several regions of Pakistan on Tuesday evening, causing panic among residents, particularly in the northern areas.
The tremors, which hit around 5:30 PM, were felt in major cities such as Peshawar, Mansehra, Islamabad, Abbottabad, and Swat, sending people fleeing from their homes and workplaces in fear.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department’s Seismic Network, the earthquake’s epicenter was located in Southeastern Afghanistan, with a depth of 22 kilometers underground.
The shallow nature of the quake made it strong enough to be felt across a wide area, especially in multi-storey buildings.
