11-year-old girl drowns in swimming pool during school picnic in Karachi

An 11-year-old girl allegedly drowned in a swimming pool at a water park in Gadap Town while on a school picnic, police said on Thursday.

The incident took place at the Sunrise Water Park and Farm House in Gadap Town, within the jurisdiction of Gadap City police station, according to reports.

The girl was swimming in the pool when she drowned. Her body was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital by a Chhipa ambulance, where she was identified as 11-year-old Haneza.

Gadap City SHO Mumtaz Marwat said that the deceased was a fourth-grade student at a private school in Chanesar Goth. He said that the girl visited the water park with other students and school staff as part of a school picnic when she drowned in the swimming pool.

The police said that further investigation into the incident is underway.
