ISLAMABAD: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has released updated data on the human and material losses caused by recent rains and floods across Pakistan.

According to the report, 907 people have died and 1,044 have been injured nationwide as torrential rains and flooding continue to wreak havoc.

Provincial breakdown of casualties

Punjab: 223 people have died and 654 sustained injuries.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P): The province suffered the heaviest loss with 502 deaths and 218 injuries.

Balochistan: 26 people lost their lives and 5 were injured.

Islamabad: 9 deaths and 3 injuries occurred in the federal capital.

Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B): 41 people died and 52 were injured.

Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK): 38 fatalities and 31 injuries were confirmed.

The NDMA stated that 7,848 houses have been damaged or destroyed by floods and heavy downpours. In addition, more than 6,180 livestock animals have perished, further worsening the humanitarian and economic impact of the disaster.

Authorities warned that the figures could rise further as assessments continue in remote and flood-hit areas.

The NDMA has urged provincial governments and relief agencies to accelerate rescue, rehabilitation, and aid delivery to affected communities.

The report underlined that the devastation has hit both rural and urban areas, leaving thousands displaced and vulnerable.

Officials stressed the urgent need for coordinated efforts to provide shelter, food, medical aid, and livestock support to victims of the ongoing calamity.
