Health experts in Karachi have advised residents to take precautionary measures as temperatures continue to rise across the city.

They warned that the risk of infections increases during periods of intense heat, urging people to avoid consuming food and drinks from outside and to ensure drinking water is properly boiled.

According to medical professionals, substandard food and beverages can lead to stomach-related illnesses.

Residents have been advised to avoid unnecessary outdoor activities during the day, wear loose, light-coloured clothing, and cover their heads when stepping باہر.

They also recommended staying out of direct sunlight between 11:00 and 15:00, adding that adequate intake of water and oral rehydration salts (ORS) can help prevent dehydration and electrolyte imbalance.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Meteorological Department said temperatures in Karachi are expected to rise further, with highs reaching up to 40°C. However, the heat index could make it feel between 46°C and 49°C.

The Met Office added that sea breezes are likely to resume by the evening, while hot conditions are expected to persist into Monday, with no rainfall forecast for the city.
