Children of Heaven (1997) will be screened privately by Pakistan Film Society, directed by Majid Majidi, in Lahore and Islamabad, on April 12.
This screening will be followed by discussion about the movie under the ongoing program of the society where people would be able to exchange views about their experiences and relate with others interested in movies.
In the story, nine-year-old Ali loses the only pair of shoes belonging to his little sister, Zahra, when he goes out for some household errands. Instead of informing their parents about the lost shoes, the two siblings decide not to say anything and make a plan to use a pair of trainers between themselves.
Founded by two passionate and professional storytellers, known on Instagram as “noonmeeem”, Pakistan Film Society is the organization for film lovers and artists who wish to experience different aspects of movies.
The society creates a place for filmmakers and viewers to interact through various initiatives that include screening sessions, exclusive film nights, networking events, and workshops.
With a mission to revive cinema culture, the organisers emphasise the importance of communal viewing experiences by bringing people together to engage with film in a meaningful and interactive way. The founders also run "The Siro Space", a cinema platform based in Frankfurt, Germany.
