PPP has demanded a 50 per cent increase in salaries and pensions of government employees in the upcoming federal budget, while also proposing to raise the minimum monthly wage to Rs60,000.

According to reports, two major demands from the PPP have surfaced ahead of the presentation of the federal budget for the next fiscal year.

The reports said the party has presented budget proposals to the government aimed at providing relief to low-income and salaried segments of society.

Keeping in view the country’s economic situation and rising inflation, the party has demanded a 50 percent increase in salaries and pensions of government employees, stating that such an increase has become unavoidable in proportion to the current inflation rate.

In addition, the PPP has proposed increasing the minimum monthly wage for labourers and low-income workers to Rs60,000.

They said the party is strongly opposed to the imposition of any new taxes or an increase in petroleum levy in the upcoming budget.

The party said that the government is already collecting excessive taxes and levies from the public, and placing any further burden on citizens would be unjust.

It has advised the government to explore new and unconventional ways to increase national revenue instead of imposing additional taxes on poor citizens.
