US President Donald Trump has outlined key conditions for a potential agreement with Iran, stating that Tehran must commit to never developing or acquiring nuclear weapons.

In a post shared on his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump said Iran would have to guarantee that it would “never possess a nuclear weapon or bomb” as part of any future arrangement between the two countries.

The US president also called for the immediate reopening of the Strait of Hormuz without any toll charges, stressing that international shipping routes should remain fully operational and uninterrupted.

Trump further claimed that any naval mines present in the waters would be removed. According to his statement, the United States has already destroyed several mines using advanced minesweeper technology, while the remaining devices would either be removed or destroyed by Iran.

He additionally stated that the US naval blockade in the region would be lifted, allowing vessels previously stranded in the Strait of Hormuz to resume movement and return operations.

Referring to Iran’s nuclear programme, Trump claimed that enriched nuclear material buried underground following US bomber strikes last year would be recovered by the United States. He asserted that only the US and China possess the technical capability to carry out such an operation.

According to Trump, the process would be conducted in close coordination with Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), and the recovered enriched material would ultimately be destroyed.

The US president also clarified that no financial payments would be made “until further notice”, although he claimed that agreement had already been reached on several less significant matters.

Trump concluded by saying he was heading to the Situation Room to hold discussions before making a final decision regarding the matter.
