Trump announces agreement with Denmark and Greenland, claims permanent US control

Washington: US President Donald Trump has announced an agreement with Denmark and Greenland.

In a statement posted on Truth Social, Trump said, “I am pleased to announce that the United States has reached an agreement with Denmark and Greenland.”

Trump said that under the agreement, the United States would have permanent control over security and all other necessary matters in Greenland, adding that this would completely address all of America’s concerns.

Trump said the agreement would not cost the United States anything. He added that, on his instructions, US officials had worked with representatives of Denmark and Greenland to guarantee that the United States would have the full freedom, permanently, to take whatever measures it considers necessary to protect and defend the security of both the United States and Greenland.

The US president further said that, from now on, no country considered an adversary of the United States would be allowed to establish a military base, maintain a military presence or make sensitive investments in Greenland without Washington’s explicit written approval.

Trump said that for more than 100 years, US presidents had been aware of Greenland’s strategic importance, but none had been able to take action on the matter. He said he was proud to be the president who had permanently and decisively resolved what he described as an extremely important issue.

The president said the United States was extremely proud and pleased with the agreement and that everything agreed upon that day would be valuable to the American people.

He added that the US would immediately begin establishing a major military presence in suitable areas of Greenland, noting that there were many such locations. He said the United States would work with the people of Greenland on their development and construction.

Trump said the arrangement represented an excellent solution for the United States, Denmark, Greenland and all of their allies. He added that the United States looked forward to working with the people of Denmark and Greenland toward a “wonderful future” for the vast and highly strategic region.
