Muslims across the world are preparing to observe the Day of Arafat, regarded as one of the holiest days in Islam and the spiritual peak of Hajj.

Falling on the 9th of Dhul Hijjah, the day holds immense religious significance as millions of pilgrims gather on the plains of Arafat near Makkah to pray, seek forgiveness, and perform the most important ritual of Hajj.

Islamic scholars describe the Day of Arafat as a day of mercy, repentance, and acceptance of prayers. According to authentic Hadith narrated in Sahih Muslim, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said that fasting on the Day of Arafat expiates the sins of the previous year and the coming year for those not performing Hajj.

The day is also remembered for the revelation of a verse from the Holy Quran in which Allah declared the perfection of Islam: “This day I have perfected your religion for you.” Islamic historians state that the verse was revealed during the Prophet’s farewell pilgrimage at Arafat.

Religious leaders encourage Muslims to spend the day in prayer, charity, remembrance of Allah, and seeking forgiveness. Special sermons and gatherings are expected to be held in mosques across many countries ahead of Eid-ul-Adha.

Scholars further emphasize that the Day of Arafat symbolizes unity, humility, and devotion, as pilgrims from different races and nations stand together in worship. Islamic teachings also describe it as a day when Allah frees more people from Hellfire than on any other day of the year.
