Palestinian hostage Akram Abu Bakr and his wife have set a rare example of unwavering love and loyalty as they reunited and remarried after over 20 years of painful separation.

Akram had divorced his wife years ago, believing it was the only way to allow her to live freely while he remained imprisoned under Israeli custody. Yet, despite the distance and the years apart, both remained devoted to each other.

Following his recent release, Akram arrived in Cairo, where he was greeted by none other than his long-awaited wife. Their emotional reunion, after more than two decades, has touched hearts, symbolizing their endurance even in the face of injustice and Israel's oppression.

They celebrated their nikah in an intimate gathering, surrounded by their loved ones.

As per reports, Akram’s story mirrors that of many Palestinians who endured severe torture, prolonged isolation, and inhumane treatment during illegal detention by Israeli forces.

Families waited years, often decades, to embrace their loved ones again, while some received only their bodies back.

Under the ceasefire deal, Hamas agreed to release all Israeli hostages, while Israel was bound to release 2,000 Palestinian detainees and the bodies of 360 martyred Palestinians.

Many of those returned bore visible signs of extreme torture, starvation and their suffering is a grim reminder of the human cost of Israeli occupation.
