Lebanese PM says Israel’s killing of civil defence members a ‘new war crime’

In a post on X, Prime Minister Nawaf Salam says the attack that killed civil defence members “while carrying out their humanitarian duty is a newly described war crime perpetrated by Israel”.

“It constitutes a flagrant violation of the principles and rules of international humanitarian law,” he said.

“The government will spare no effort to condemn this heinous crime in international forums, and to mobilise all efforts to compel Israel to cease its ongoing violations of the ceasefire agreement.”

As we previously reported, the air strike on Majdal Zoun town killed at least five people, including three paramedics trapped under the rubble after an earlier attack, according to Lebanon’s Health Ministry.
