The Israeli forces have once again violated the ceasefire as they committed a new massacre on Friday in al-Zeitoun neighborhood, east of Gaza city, killing 11 members of the same family.
The victims who were targeted while travelling in a civilian vehicle, included seven children and two women.
Field sources have confirmed that all individuals in the targeted vehicle were members of the same family. The attack underscores the persistent targeting of civilians, even as the ceasefire agreement remains formally in effect.
Israel continues to attack the innocent civilians as they attempt returning to their homes in Gaza city.
Earlier on October 10, the first phase of the ceasefire agreement was approved by Hamas and Israel. However, on Wednesday, the Israeli military killed five Palestinians in separate incidents.
“Israeli quad copter drones opened fire on civilians inspecting their homes in Shujaiya,” said Mahmud Bassal, spokesperson for the Civil Defence Agency.
The Israeli assault, however, highlight the ongoing challenges of maintaining the ceasefire, as hundreds of displaced Palestinians attempt to return to their homes.
In a separate incident, Al Mayadeen’s correspondent in the Gaza Strip reported that a woman was wounded by Israeli drone fire in Abasan al-Jadida, east of Khan Yunis in southern Gaza.
The reporter highlighted that such repeated violations reflect the increasingly fragile state of the ceasefire.
As of last Wednesday, the Gaza Center for Human Rights documented at least 36 ceasefire violations by Israeli forces in the Gaza Strip. The organization noted that this figure is a preliminary count, which continues to rise each day as Israeli attacks intensify.
