Iran has executed Bahman Choobiasl accused of spying for Israel, in a high-profile move amid Tehran’s ongoing crackdown on espionage.
According to international media, Choobiasl was described by the Iranian judiciary’s media wing, Mizan, as 'one of the most important spies' working for Israel in the country.
Mizan stated that through his espionage activities, Choobiasl aimed to access government databases, disrupt Iranian data centers, and gather information related to the import of electronic devices.
“The main goal of Mossad in attracting the defendant’s cooperation was to obtain the database of governmental institutions and create a breach in Iranian data centres, along with which it also pursued other secondary goals, including investigating the route of importing electronic equipment,” Mizan said.
