Tensions between Bangladesh and India have increased after Bangladesh temporarily suspended consular and visa services at its mission in New Delhi.

According to the Bangladeshi mission, the decision was taken due to the prevailing security situation, and consular and visa services have been halted until further notice.

During the demonstration, Indian protesters allegedly issued death threats to the Bangladeshi High Commissioner.

Indian media, meanwhile, reported that India had also closed its visa centre in Chattogram a day earlier.

Officials on both sides have not announced how long the suspensions will remain in place, while the situation continues to be closely monitored.
