The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has formally informed the International Cricket Council (ICC) of its decision not to play the upcoming match against India.
According to sources cited by Cricket Buzz, the PCB’s letter to the ICC detailed the reasons behind the boycott.
The board has notified the ICC that Pakistan will not take the field for its Group A match against India.
This decision follows Pakistan’s earlier announcement that it would skip the match scheduled for 15 February.
The move comes in solidarity with Bangladesh, which was withdrawn from the tournament due to security concerns and subsequently replaced by Scotland.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif confirmed the decision, stating that it was taken as a gesture of support for Bangladesh.
Bangladesh had refused to play its matches in India due to security concerns, prompting the ICC to exclude the team and include Scotland in the T20 World Cup.
The PCB reiterated that player safety remains the top priority, and its stance reflects unwavering support for Bangladesh in the matter.
