Pakistan shooter Ghulam Mustafa Bashir won the bronze medal in the men’s 25-metre rapid fire pistol event at the 2026 Asian Games on Thursday, taking Pakistan’s medal tally at the Games to six.

Bashir finished third in the eight-man final with 22 hits. South Korea’s Lee Gunhyeok won the gold medal with 32 hits, while China’s Su Lianbofan claimed silver with the same score.

Bashir had entered the second day of qualification in eighth place before improving to sixth to secure a place in the final.

Competing at the Aichi Prefectural General Shooting Gallery, the three-time Olympian remained in medal contention during the elimination stages before finishing with 22 hits.

Vietnam’s Pham Quang Huy finished fourth with 20 hits.

Lee and Su were tied on 32 hits after the competition stages, with Lee prevailing to take gold. Their scores were listed as an Asian Games record and an Asian record.

The bronze medal adds to Bashir’s international achievements. He previously won a bronze medal at the 2022 ISSF World Championships.
