Karachi: Robbers loot 15,000 US dollars, gold after entering house on pretext of receiving meat

An armed robbery was reported in Karachi on the second day of Eid, when suspects allegedly entered a house under the pretext of asking for meat from sacrificial animal and held family members and butchers hostage.

According to media reports, a case of the incident has been registered at the Joharabad police station.

The complainant stated that the family was busy in the courtyard for Qurbani when a maid opened the gate after someone knocked. Armed men then reportedly entered the house and held the residents and butchers at gunpoint.

He alleged that the suspects looted 15,000 US dollars in cash along with Pakistani currency and 17 to 18 tolas of gold among other valuables from the house.

The police said CCTV footage of the suspects fleeing the scene has also surfaced. According to investigators, six armed men entered the house while two others remained outside as lookouts before the group escaped.
