Karachi: The father of Aurangzeb Alam, who took his own life along with his two children by jumping into the sea at Karachi’s Do Darya, has held his daughter-in-law responsible for the tragic incident.

Speaking to a private TV channel, Aurangzeb’s father revealed that his son, a master's degree holder, used to run a school and had married a girl of his choice in 2015— a student at the same school.

After the marriage, she was made the principal of the school. The couple had three children — two sons and a daughter.

According to the grieving father, tensions arose early in the marriage. "Just three days after the wedding, my son caught his wife speaking to another man over the phone, which led to a serious conflict.

Within a couple of months, her family forced a separation between us and our son," he alleged, further claiming that she was later involved in multiple affairs.

He went on to say that, “Three to four months ago, my daughter-in-law developed a relationship with my real nephew. Although both families were aware of the affair, we remained silent for the sake of our son’s happiness.

However, when the school staff informed my son, it sparked another fight. She then left for her parents' home and demanded custody of the children along with a notice for separation.”

Aurangzeb’s father added that a few days prior to the incident, the police raided their home at night and took them to the station. The next morning, a court hearing ruled that the children would remain with their mother. “Fearing separation from his children, my son even begged for forgiveness.

She agreed but on the condition that he hand over the school to her, move into a separate home, and place no restrictions on her lifestyle. My son accepted the conditions and informed us, but tragically, the next day the incident occurred,” he recounted.

It is worth mentioning that earlier this month, a man jumped into the sea at Do Darya with his two children. All three bodies have since been recovered.

Eyewitnesses had initially claimed the man appeared to be under the influence of drugs. They said several people attempted to save him and the children but were unsuccessful.
