Dumping sites, broken roads and poor planning disrupt daily life in Model Colony and the surrounding areas in Karachi.

Under its civic initiative “Karachi Aisa Nahi Tha”, the Dialogue Pakistan team visited Malir district, where worsening infrastructure and sanitation issues have become a serious concern for residents.

Near Model Colony Pathak, a small dumping yard has emerged, with garbage piling up in the area.

Locals said the site was previously cleaned regularly and even used as a sitting space, but the situation has now deteriorated significantly, turning it into a source of discomfort and potential health risks.

In Malir Halt, residents pointed out a newly constructed road that has already been damaged within a month.

According to them, a broken water supply line beneath the road caused the surface to collapse, highlighting poor planning and substandard construction work.

At multiple locations, paver blocks have been removed for ongoing work and left scattered on the roads, creating obstacles for commuters and contributing to traffic disruption.

Citizens complained that such incomplete and poorly managed projects are adding to their daily difficulties rather than resolving them.

The condition of the road from Mehran Depot to Model Morr was described as particularly alarming. Residents said the stretch has become almost unusable, making travel both slow and hazardous.
